Shows and Showing

Many Holland Lops are shown, and there is a large community of groups for showing, show breeding, etc.
In most shows, there are several categories.
These include best of show, best doe of class, best buck of classbest senior doe of class, best senior buck of class, best junior doe of class, and best buck of junior class. You can't be a judge and show rabbits at the same time, as it could give you a hugely unfair advantage over the other breeders.

In most shows, there will be around 100-150 rabbits. The most would be somewhere around 300, but very rarely. Hollands will be judged on fur quality, length, weight according to size, health, and appearance. It is very hard to win best in show, and will take a lot of time to train your rabbit.

It's probably a good idea to get your rabbit vaccinated and prevent contagious diseases because not all of the rabbits will be. You lop could easily contract worms or viruses if not properly protected. The easiest way to do this is to go to the vet and get the vaccines for contagious diseases and worms. This should be given only by someone certified. You should also take your rabbit to the vet to make sure they're not sick, as it could spread to other rabbits at a show.

Show standards usually include a short, massive, and stocky build, with thick legs. The rabbit should be round, but not fat. There are many more rules, but there are too many to list here, as they fill up an entire book.
